This video shows the off-label use of a stent for treating a gastric sleeve leak. First, a guidewire is deployed and its position is confirmed with fluoroscopy. Then, a covered self-expanding Nitinol stent is carefully deployed, again with position confirmation via fluoroscopy. Contrast study should be performed prior to stent removal, at about 6 weeks at the earliest. Source: Courtesy of Dana Portenier, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Duke University Medical Center.
